UnValentine's Day

Today is the day farthest from, and until, Valentine's Day. But even when there is no official expectation and no tacky cards in exploitative shops, love and affection must still be acknowledged and expressed.

Ancient Greece had four words for love: agápe, éros, philía, and storgē.

Agápe: a true, unconditional love
Éros: a passionate love, or desire
Philía: friendship and loyalty
Storgē: affection or simply acceptance

So even if you are not in a relationship, let your friends and family know that you appreicate them.

After all, "Affection is responsible for nine-tenths of whatever solid and durable happiness there is in our lives." C.S. Lewis

And remember that "People need loving the most when they deserve it the least." John Harrigan
